Planning for Family and Friends

Filed under: — Party Girl @ 10:04 am

Hi everyone!~

We at Durango Party Rental are gearing up for the big wedding season that covers the Four Corners every year at this time.  It looks like a busy one!  What we are hearing from the majority of the couples is that there are going to be a lot of out of towners as guests.  What fun!  Not only are they celebrating a union of two but a re-union of family and friends.  And the Four Corners is one of the best places do this very thing.  There are events and attractions in this area all year but the long warm season boasts some of the best activities available for a destination wedding.  Just imagine the possibilities!  Uncle Jim riding horseback in a beautiful mountain meadow or Grandma Betty busting through Smelter rapid with a smile glued to her face.

This leads me to the planning tip of this blog.  You have chosen a place of beauty to get married in and your visiting family and friends can turn your wedding into a vacation.  There are wonderful web sites available to your clicking, researching hands.  I suggest these two web sites to start your activity planning process.  The first is The Durango Area Tourism Office at www.durango.org. This web site gives you an awesome overview of Durango and the surrounding areas plus a listing of activities going on at the time of your wedding.  The second web site is Gateway Reservations at www.gatewayreservations.com.  This site can help you with booking and activity packages.  Ah, the beautiful simplicity of it all.

We understand that planning a wedding can be hectic but please remember that the process itself should be exciting as well.  I hope that these two web sites can help in putting your “special event” together with ease.

Now for the ever changing list of goings-on in Durango.  There are quite a few exciting events for you cultured revelers out there.

The first “Party Girl”

Hey Revelers!

We are excited about our new web site.  So bright and shiny, just like our inventory! We decided to put this blog on our web site for a few reasons. One is the ability to actually communicate in this electronic world of surfing and information resources. The other is to keep in touch with all the wonderful events of the Four Corners. We like to keep up on the pulse of the event world; our ears to the ground per se, and with this blog we have even more of a motivation. I have succumbed to the electronic pen that  I will try valiantly to use for local information and postings of fun and exciting “going ons”.  We also will be posting different tips and advice for throwing your own great event.  Keep checking back for all the goods!

The first advice we are extending is PLAN!!  The wonderful party/event season is just around the corner in the Four Corners and if you are thinking of having a bash, planning is the first step.  Whether you are pondering on a casual backyard get together or a lavish cocktail soiree, there are always supplies needed.  Just a few minutes of pre-party planning (the triple P!) could make or break it.  Feel free to call us if you have any planning or supply questions.

This blog is also a tool for you, the reader.  If you happen to know of a great event brewing and I have not mentioned it here, or you have a great idea or tips for events you get to brandish the electronic pen.  How exciting and new, just like our inventory!

Here are a few things in the “making” as of February 25th-

“Seussical the Musical” presented by Durango Arts Force and Durango Lively Arts in the DAC theater:   This fun, imaginative play will be held at  7 p.m. on February 24th, 25th, 26th and March 3rd-5th and a matinee on March 5th.  Tickets are $10, $8 seniors, $5 students.  Tickets can be purchased by phoning 259-2606.

“Hops and Hopes” fundraiser for Durango Early Learning Center.  This is my favorite event of this posting because it involves some of my favorite stuff.  How can you go wrong with beer, food, music and a fundraiser for children.  This event happens March 5th at Bistro JP 6-9 p.m.  Tickets are $30 and there will be free micro brew tasting from 5 local brewers, hors ‘dourves from Durangourmet catering, live music from Bluegrass Mayhem and silent and live auctions.  Springtime fashions are encouraged!  Tickets can be had by calling Lesley Loch at 259-1483.  Durango Party Rental is proud to be one of the sponsors of this event.

“Motorcycle Parts Swap Extravaganza!” presented by Durango Harley Davidson:  March 19th -20th at the Armory in Bodo Park.  This event is sponsored by the Ironhorse HOG chapter and Scoot-n-Blues.  I have heard it straight from the mouths of babes that there will be myriad parts to choose from and that the Biker Party  at “Scoots” that follows on Saturday March 20th will be a rip roaring good time.  Also, there will be a Benefit Poker Run through this event as well.

I know that there are many other events happening in the near future and I will do my best to include them all.  If you would like me to post a public event on this blog I would love to hear from you.  You can reach me at (970) 259-6009 or simply through this blog.

Take care and happy eventing!

Sincerely, Party Girl Heather
